Job description:
The Insurance Verification Specialist is a vital position within our organization. The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible verifying their insurance benefits and ensuring the patient’s demographics, insurance, and referral information are accurately entered into the Medical Record.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility prior to scheduled appointments
- Obtain and document authorization requirements, referrals, and visit limits
- Accurately enter and update insurance information in the EMR system
- Calculate and communicate patient financial responsibility (co-pays, coinsurance and deductibles)
- Identify and flag discrepancies in coverage or authorization requirements
- Coordinate with front office, billing and clinical teams to ensure compliance with payer guidelines
- Follow up with insurance carriers for missing or unclear information
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all verification and authorization activity
- Ensure all verifications are completed within designated turnaround times
- Assist in resolving insurance related issues that may impact scheduling or billing
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED
- Good communication skills
- Microsoft Word and Excel Previous
- Minimum experience of 2Years
- Strong understanding of insurance plans (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid)
- Experience with insurance portals and speaking with insurance reps
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to interpret insurance benefits and authorization requirements
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Problem Solving mindset
